GU12 30-Sep-06: Urmston Town 2-13(12?) Oswald Rd (HT 0-6)

Apparently, Urmston Town were short of players so we played with a reduced side as well. Everyone in the team scored at least one goal (even Rebecca – but not from goal, she was swapped out into midfield). Ruq says they scored the two goals when a very boyish ‘girl’ started to play for them, but we were so far ahead by then that we were relaxed about it. I was told we’d won 13-2 but the league table shows 12-2 so not sure who miscounted – us or them. Stop Press: Report just arrived – see below…

Kamal

This was a bit of a practice match for the Os with Urmston playing a much depleted team of only 6 players. Oswald reciprocated and also played with 6. However it was a great chance for the defenders to have a go up front, and have a go they did. Everyone got on the score sheet, with a mixture of goals, with Beck probably scoring the goal of the day, if not the season. She picked the ball up just in her own half and headed of at full pace tapping the ball forward in front of her, she shrugged off one challenge and headed towards both the goalkeeper and defender who were descending upon her, with a fabulous side foot shot that she took in her stride she slotted the ball into the bottom right hand corner.

Nai scored her first goal of the season and Beck Tanya and SophieP scored their first goals ever for the club.

Urmston never gave up and played with great spirit and deserved their two goals. However whilst it was a day to enjoy it wasn’t our most severe test of the year.
