1 Oct 2005, Girls U13: Broadheath Athletic 6 – 2 Oswald Rd (HT:1-1)

(Editors note: ORJFC had only 6 players for this game)
(2nd Editors note: This report changed slightly because of pre-teen memory brain spasm)
The girls were looking forward to this game, because they wanted to see how good Broadheath had become, and their question was answered. We were playing really well, but 5 minutes into the game Broadheath scored a flukey goal, because Molly and one of their players were trying hard to get the ball in and out but then another one of their players came, shoved Molly out of the way and put the ball into the back of the net (although it only went a little over the line). After that goal our girls tried really hard to get the ball into the net and they succeeded, Rayne skilled their players out, with a little help from Frankie, and slotted the ball into the net! Later, the ball was kicked out (shortly after the centre kick) by their goalie but 2 of their players missed it completely and Hanaan got the ball and booted it, but she didn’t score – she only skimmed the post. In the second half our defenders got a bit tired out, and let Broadheath put away 2 goals, but then defender Hanaan and midfielder Molly swapped places, the ball had been kicked out by Rayne (who had swapped places with Jody) to Molly who then passed it to Jody, she ran with the ball a bit then she passed it to Hanaan but she was being marked by no.8 so she passed the ball through 2 of their players to Jody, who carefully slid the ball into the net. Broadheath might have had the goals, but we had the skill the possession and the players. The managers (Shelley and Corrina) were dead proud of the girls; it rained throughout nearly all of the game but the girls still kept their heads up. Roberta also did very well and had a good practice of being out, since Rayne and Jody were in net, and they did great too!!!

WELL DONE!!!!! -reporting by Hanaan
