19 Nov 2005, Girls U11: Oswald Rd 0 – 3 Sale Utd (HT:0-2)

We started off fab with Katie in mid defence. Anghi started off good even though she had a hard player near her. Sophie and Ruky played brill with loads of good passing. Unfortunately they scored. With good confidence we carried on, then they scored again .by now it was half time. We carried on playing with Tanya on. Sophie took 2 amazing shots but didn’t get them in. By the end of the game they scored another goal but it doesn’t matter. Well done girls you should be proud.

Oswald Road played an excellent game despite the disappointing end result of 3-0 to Sale United. This was possibly our best defensive game of the season, with Katie, Sophie P and Angharad holding their line and marking Sale’s strikers well; a great improvement on our last meeting with this competent side. The quality of passing overall by Oswald Road was good, but special mention should be given to Katie, whose passes out of defence were excellent, and once again Sophie A and Ruqayyah proved a formidable attacking team. Their frustration at not scoring was evident by full time. Chantelle played an excellent mid field and took some knocks against a quite physical opposition, ultimately rewarded with a free kick for one over zealous Sale United challenge. Tanya played well, both in mid field and defensively, taking a number of throw-ins during the second half which nearly resulted in an Oswald Road goal. Sukdev was impressive in net, making numerous excellent saves. Only one of Sale’s three goals was conceded through a clear shot at the keeper, which tipped over her gloves and under the cross bar. The other two goals were less impressive by Sale, but ultimately won them their 3 points.
