29 Oct 2005, Girls U11: Deans Sports 2 – 4 Oswald Rd (HT:2-1)

This was an extremely close game as it ended Oswald Rd 4-2 Deans sport. In the first half one of our players accidentally back passed to one of their open players who shot and unfortunately scored making it 1-0 until Ruqayyah, Jody and Chantal ran down the wing Ruqayyah passing a few players then kicking it to Jody who passed to Chantal and they ran into a crowd of players, Chantal manages to keep the ball then shoots but the goalie hits it out but Jody gets it the again passes to Chantal who shoots again but this time scores – an equaliser, 1-1. After that we tried to make sure they didn’t score but in a corner they managed to get it to one of their players who scored making it 2-1 to them. Minutes later the referee blew the whistle. The next half we again tried to make sure they didn’t score and this time we succeeded as in the second half Sophie got the ball from Katie and ran down the wing passing a few players then she thwacked it into the box where Ruqayyah managed to curl it into the corner of the net so it was then 2-2 after that we were very determined to score another goal and we were very lucky indeed as Chantal scored 2 more brill goals which led us to 4-2 and minutes later the referee blew the whistle. Laving it at 4—2. A very close game.

Ossie Girls got their revenge for last week’s near upset against Deans, but not without making it exciting first by gifting two goals to the opposition. This Deans team played better than last week but we had all our galacticos present today with Katie marshalling the defence (and taking over as second half goalie), Chantelle tearing down the middle, and Jody passing beautifully in midfield. We also had Tanya chasing and getting possession in midfield, SophieA passing the ball all around the pitch, Ruqayyah ruling the wing and with Sukdev and Angharad rock solid in defence, we should have beaten Deans easily. Oh well. A suicidal back pass gave Deans one easy goal, then we pressed forward and Chantelle stroked the ball home after some very determined play from our forwards. A corner from Deans ended up at the near post and the defence and goalie all misunderstood each other, allowing one of their forwards to fumble the ball through everyone into the goal. But this Comedy of Errors didn’t turn into tragedy as, in the second half, Ossie Girls stopped messing about and started playing! Sophie raced down the wing and crossed to Ruqayyah … oh no, Ruki’d over run the pass slightly … but she turned, swung her right foot and curled the ball into the corner of the net – Goal of the Season so far! The passing between SophieA, Jody and Ruqayyah was excellent now and with Katie whacking the ball forward from goal and Sukdev and Anghie solid in defence, Chantelle was free to charge towards goal every chance she got, shrugging off defenders as she went. Swift passing and Chantelle’s speed soon saw two more goals notched up and it would have been much more but for incredible goal-keeping from their player-of-the-match – one save from a rocket shot from SophieA, which was heading into the top corner, had everyone gasping! Time after time she saved brilliantly shots from our forwards and wingers. Finally the game ended, Deans had played really well – but we did that little bit better, 4-2 to Ossie Girls!!
