11 Mar 2006, Girls U13: St Johns 2 – 3 Oswald Rd (HT:2-3)

1^st half

We were determined to beat St Johns this match! Lindsey had new tactics for the girls, which meant that the girls were going to be in new positions. Maniac didn’t change she stayed in net, Afro was in 2^nd defence and Giant was in 1^st defence. This seemed strange to Afro who is used to having someone at the side of her, but she did excellent in the place she was in. Jammy was in her normal place in central midfield, L.P at the right and Bred was in Giants place in left mid. Up front was newcomer Lucy Rogers (we haven’t got a nick-name for her yet!!). We had kick off to start of with; Lucy kicked it to Jammy who had a shot first thing (a new tactic). The goalie picked it up and kicked it out up the field. Afro got the ball and passed it to Giant who then dribbled past no.2, she ran up the side eyes on goal. But St John players crowded her so she passed it to Jammy. She was being pushed, so she had a shot – unfortunately she missed!! Goalie kick, she kicked it out to no.2 who got the ball and dribbled past L.P but she got back and got the ball off her past in to Lucy she ran up the right side and crossed it in but the goalie kicked it away but Jammy got the ball and played it to Bred who nearly lost control of the ball but she managed to chip it up a bit and volley in into the back of the net!!! 1-0 to Oswald Rd!!!! It was their kick off, when the ball was played we went straight into the ball, Lucy got possession of the ball, but unfortunately she got tackled by no.2 who then ran down the side like mad, Afro ran towards her but she managed to get past her. She tricked her way past L.P, Bred and Giant were running after her but she’d had already shot, and the ball went into the back off the net. 1-1. It was their kick off and the girls had to make sure that they didn’t lose this match! Jammy took a shot first thing and we all ran after the ball, the goalie got it and Lucy stood in front of her, the goalie kicked the ball but instead of going up it hit Lucy on the back, she didn’t know what happened so the gaolie managed to kick the ball out. Layla from St Johns got the ball and ran up the field, when she reached the half way line she passed it to no.5 but unfortunately for them Bred go the ball and ran up the flank she tired to go for a shot but she couldn’t shoot, so she ran up to the corner flag and crossed it in Lucy managed to get a touch of the ball, it went into the side of the net!!! 2-1 to Oswald Rd!! St Johns kick off; Jammy got the ball straight away and ran towards the goal, she passed it to Bred who was on the left side of her. Bred tried to get in the centre but she couldn’t, so she had a shot, the keeper tired to save it but…the ball was hit so hard that the keeper lost the ball and it got stuck at the back of the net!!! 3-1 to Oswald Rd!!! St Johns didn’t want to loose this match, so they put up a good fight and managed to score another goal, it all happened so suddenly. 3-2 to Oswald Rd.

2^nd half

There was no goals in the second half; we had so many chances though. We all wanted Jammy to score because she had done so well in the game. Lucy had a brilliant debut game for Oswald Rd, she scored her first goal for the Ozzie’s, so a very well done to Lucy! And a very very very well done to the girls for beating St Johns!! (hehe)

Next week we are playing Wythenshawe Town. The girls will hope to beat this team. WELL DONE OZZIES!!!
